Booking for the 2016 University Health and Medical Librarians' Group (UHMLG) Spring Forum - "2020 Vision: Supporting Open Access and Research Excellence" – remains open until Friday, still a few places left.
The meeting will be held at the Royal Society of Medicine in London on Friday 4th March.
We have a full day programme (registration opens 9:00, programme runs 9:50 -16:00 including lunch) with a range of speakers from higher education, the NHS, HEFCE, the Wellcome Trust, Jisc as well as input from publishers.
The Spring Forum also provides opportunities to meet a range of suppliers, to network and share experience with colleagues, and the option after the meeting to tour the RSM Library - one of the largest postgraduate biomedical lending libraries in Europe.
Confirmed speakers include the following:
*Steven Hill, HEFCE, on the REF Open Access policy;
*Cecy Marden, Wellcome Trust, on the Wellcome Trust OA policy;
*Danny Kingsley, University of Cambridge, on approaching REF compliance from the researcher's perspective;
*Sally Rumsey and Owen Coxall, University of Oxford, on acting on acceptance at the University of Oxford;
*Helen Blanchett, Jisc, on an overview of Jisc work;
*Richard Osborn, Health Education England, on Open Access in the NHS
We will also hear from three publishers:
* Alicia Wise for Elsevier;
*Kate Smith for Wiley;
*Lisa Hussey for BioMed Central
The cost of attending the Spring Forum is £100 for members and £120 for non-members.
Membership of UHMLG is now FREE and open to all those who have relevant subject responsibility or whose major responsibility is for a site library delivering health or medical services in a university. The membership form can be downloaded from here: http://www.uhmlg.ac.uk/membership. The cost for attendees from commercial organisations is £175. Please feel free to pass this email on to any interested colleagues and other staff in your organisation. Any number of library or other staff from UHMLG members' organisations may attend at the lower members' rate.
