Dear members,
I am the UK researcher for the “Protecting Stateless Persons from Arbitrary Detention” project of the European Network on Statelessness. See http://www.statelessness.eu/protecting-stateless-persons-from-detention
I will be conducting research and writing a country report on the situation in the UK which is due to be published in November. We hope that this will add to the overall debate on the use of immigration detention in the UK, and also add to the case for a reform more widely in Europe as we will also be publishing a comparative report on the situation in Europe towards the end of the year which will look at the situation in 6 European countries.
I am looking for stateless persons or persons at risk of statelessness (those whose nationality is disputed but have been cooperating with the authorities, Palestinians etc) who are or have been in detention and who are willing to be interviewed. The interviews will be carried out taking into consideration ethical matters and confidentiality ensured.
If you know of any such persons, it would be really helpful if you could ask them to get in touch with me.
Kind regards
Katia Bianchini
