Royal Pavilion & Museums (RPM) and the University of Brighton (UoB) are collaborating on this exciting new role. The post-holder will share their time equally with each partner, and identify and maximise strategic and creative opportunities for increased collaboration and shared initiatives between the two institutions. The post-holder will have curatorial responsibility for RPM’s outstanding Decorative Art collection and undertake innovative research, teaching and curriculum development in the UoB’s College of Arts and Humanities. Central to the role is building the use of RPM’s collections to support teaching, learning and research, and for collections-based scholarship and understanding to reach wider audiences through RPM’s platforms.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with substantial experience of museum work, research proficiency and outputs, and excellent communication skills. They will need to deliver imaginative and strategic leadership for the Decorative Art collection - as well as provide for its day-to-day care, development and management, interpretation and use - and be able to translate new and/or specialist subject knowledge into accessible teaching content and interpretation. With excellent interpersonal skills, they will work with a wide range of people - colleagues, students, volunteers, local groups and external partners – and be able to organise, motivate and develop teams.

This post is a three-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
