Hi all,
this is a good opportunity to let you know, that we have created and uploaded
relion as an official Debian package already more than a year ago (as announced
previously on this list). See https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/relion
1.3 is part of the current stable release "jessie" and 1.4 is available in
testing (to eventually become new stable, "stretch"). We have created 4
different package variants to support serial installations (with and
without GUI support) as well as those two variants with MPI support.
Since Ubuntu releases simply pull most packages from Debian, as a
consequence of our work, relion is also part of Ubuntu since release 15.04.
Last but not least: For clustering, the best solution to deploy relion
is to use our Ubuntu/Debian based Cluster OS Qlustar
(https://qlustar.com),
which of course also includes relion, in this case build against our most
performant and up-to-date OpenMPI versions. Note that Qlustar Basic
Edition is free for purely academic usage.
Have fun.
