Dear All
The Library at Mzuzu University in Malawi was completely destroyed by fire at the end of 2015. This constitutes a major setback for the MLIS course established there recently which provides the only graduate level education in archives and records in the country.
A temporary library has been rapidly improvised in the graduation hall at Mzuzu but at present it is a library without resources. Mzuzu University has appealed for donations of those books that are most urgently needed: book shelves and staff offices are being put in place so that donations can be processed. The logistics of transportation from the UK to Malawi are being co-ordinated via Strathclyde University Library.
Paul Lihoma, who completed his Ph.D. in Glasgow in 2012 and who now teaches at Mzuzu University has provided a short list of books that he would particularly like to have available for his students. This is appended below.
Donations of book(s) should be sent to me for onward transmission.
Thanks in advance
Alistair
