CENTRE FOR CANCER GENETIC EPIDEMIOLOGY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND PRIMARY CARE
Cancer Research - UK PhD Studentship, commencing October 2016
We seek to appoint a talented PhD student to a new Cancer Research - UK research programme. The programme is based at the Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, University of Cambridge, Strangeways Research Laboratories, Worts Causeway, Cambridge.
The main objective of the programme is to develop and validate quantitative tools for cancer risk-stratification and prevention that take advantage of discoveries in both cancer genomics and epidemiology. To address this goal the student will have the opportunity to work on the development of novel analytical techniques and to apply those to data from large scale genomic and epidemiological studies, including large international consortia and biobanks. The candidate will work at a world-leading institute in cancer genetic epidemiology, population health sciences, applied biostatistics and genomics.
Beginning in October 2016, the candidate will pursue a 4-year PhD. The ideal candidate will have outstanding academic abilities combined with strong quantitative and communication skills in order to make the most of interdisciplinary training opportunities.
The CR-UK studentship will provide a generous annual stipend (£19,000) and university and college fees at UK/EU level.
