Hi Justin,
It seems like you've got some useful feedback from the discussion here. I'm
just wondering if there is an opportunity to do some real-life user
testing? This might involve recruiting a diverse group of users of all
ages, sizes and abilities, and letting each one spend 5-10 minutes trying
to use the alarm. You would get really practical feedback, and it would be
very powerful if you could get the manufacturer or designer in the room
with you.
Best regards

Dear All
Please see picture below which is a cover proposed for the Non accessible
( i.e. standard toilet) on some of our trains. This is because of the tight
fit in the toilet, nearly half of all activations of this alarm are
accidental ( eg mistake for flush button or knocked whilst manoeuvring in
the toilet) .
There is also an accessible toilet on these particular trains and no change
is being proposed to the alarm in those toilets.
What would be really useful, if people believe this design will cause
issues, if they could suggest what could be modified to improve the
proposed.
For instance is it being coloured red make it more likely that someone will
press it believing it is the alarm? Should it be a different colour, should
the wording be changed? I think it will look like a smiley face with the
arrow on it – is this misleading?
Assistance appreciated.
Thanks
Justin Ryan
