I was attracted by the title of this blog - How to Manage a Camel, and there is an interesting discussion on hard vs soft skills in project management.

My soft skills (for what they’re worth) have been learned through general management sessions, mostly in-house, and only yesterday I did an emotional intelligence test that my daughter had brought home from her postgrad uni course!

Subject: Re: [CIG-E-FORUM] project management skills - training
I became a P2 Practitioner early on by following a distance learning course combined with a residential day for cramming and examinations. A variety of study options are available including a 5 day residential school - you arrive on the Monday knowing very little and you sit the exams on the Friday afternoon. P2 however *does not* cover soft skills... the essential attributes of the individual is also key - emotional intelligence, natural aptitude for organisation and order etc. I wonder if there is any dedicated training for softer PM skills? I guess this would fit under general management training?
