Digitisation Project Assistant – The Royal London Hospital Archives
Department: Institute of Health Sciences Education, Queen Mary University of London
Salary: £25,984 - £27,368, pro rata
Contract: 8 months fixed term, full time
Closing date: 26th February 2016
As part of a Wellcome Trust funded project to enable access to records relating to the treatment of sexually transmitted infections held at The Royal London Hospital Archives, the post holder will edit pre-digitised patient records and scan a range of photographic material.
Pre-digitised case notes and confidential registers must be edited so that researchers may be able to access the material; the records will then be anonymised through redaction and stored separately to the original digitised records. Photographic materials ranging from prints to glass slides require digitisation and also editing using a specialised scanner and appropriate editing software. The post holder will be supervised by the Project Archivist and will also work alongside the Project Conservator as part of a small project team managed by the Deputy Archivist/Curator.
The role is suited to either someone who wishes to pursue a career in Archives/Information Management or who has experience with digitisation projects at a professional level.
