Session description:
Most of the world-class ore discoveries have been made close to the surface. Many of these deposits have been exhausted or are rapidly depleting. For the sustainable developments, new technologies of resource exploration are critical. Geochemistry can play an important role in exploration, especially in areas with poor outcrops or various cover (overburden) of younger rocks. Thick overburden can act as a filter or even an impermeable barrier to vertical geochemical dispersion, which can significantly reduce ore pathfinder elements or anomalous geochemical proxy from reaching the surface and being detectable in exploration campaigns. The session covers all aspects that can contribute to innovative resource exploration technology, coupled with big data processing using geostatistics and intelligent data processing tools. It will also highlight advancements in the analysis and mapping of geochemical anomalies, to delineate targets for mineral exploration.
