Geochronology: time and rate of tectonic and metamorphic processes
Solicited contributor: Matthijs Smit, the University of British Columbia
In this session, we propose to explore the parameter time, in all its diversity. Increasingly specific geochronological methods capture the timing of an increasing diversity of tectonic and metamorphic processes, taking place from Hadean to Holocene, at sub-mineral to orogen scale, in minutes to million years periods, in low-temperature to high-temperature conditions... Concomitantly, the volume of geochronological data is exploding, leading to new statistical treatment of information. We invite a discussion on the unprecedented perspectives of geochronology, to define the time and rate of tectonic and metamorphic processes.
See you in Vienna. Best regards, Bernard
