Dear colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to this session at Goldschmidt in Yokohama, Japan this June:
Session 06f: The Accessory Mineral Record of the Evolution of the Continental Crust
Convenors: Craig Storey, Tanya Ewing, Bruno Dhuime, Emilie Bruand
Keynote: Daniela Rubatto (University of Bern)
Accessory minerals such as zircon, apatite, titanite, rutile, allanite and monazite are increasingly used to gain robust geochemical information and dates of a whole range of magmatic, metamorphic and mineralization processes that have shaped the continental crust. Here we invite contributions from researchers using novel applications of accessory minerals to gain new insight into these processes on all timescales. Examples would be linking trace element and isotopic data within accessory minerals to growth, reworking and recycling of the continental crust within a range of tectonic settings. Equally, the use of mineral inclusions within other accessory minerals (e.g. apatite, feldspar etc within robust zircon) and linking microstructure with geochemical and isotopic information to better constrain processes is a growing area and one that we encourage abstracts on.
Abstracts can be submitted online until 26 February 2016 at http://goldschmidt.info/2016/abstracts
We look forward to an exciting and innovative session, and hope to see you there.
Regards
Tanya, Craig, Bruno and Emilie
