Hello All
In the next few weeks the Museum is going to temporarily close its Restless Earth Gallery for an overhaul.
To make sure we represent certain rock types that tell the story of both Scotland and earth’s dynamic processes we are trying to find a couple of specimens that aren’t well represented in the collection in an attractive display specimen form.
We are trying to find colourful Barrovian Chlorite schist that doesn't contain any or very little mica, just a really nice green colour.
We are also looking for a nice sample of Loch Borralan Carbonatite, both samples need only to be about large hand specimen in size.
I have two requests regarding obtaining these. Either does anyone know of any outcrops for the Barrovian Chlorite Schist (Grid refs would be nice) that can be got to in a “changeable Scottish winter” without too much pain or risk (I will need to be able to get to them in the next couple of weeks).
Or does anyone have or can get hold of suitable specimen/s that they might consider donating to the museum.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks & regards
Simon
