THE 16TH CONFERENCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE STUDY OF FORCED MIGRATION
Call for papers
20 years after the Beijing World Conference on Women- achievements, challenges and the lessons learned in anti-human trafficking policies and actions
Human trafficking is often a forced migration issue. Its victims in result of manipulation, threats or direct coercion become migrants and exploited workers.
The 4th World Conference on Women was held in Beijing in 1995. Its Platform called international community for an immediate action to counter trafficking in women and to assist the victims of this crime.
As it is now 20 years since the Beijing Platform has been introduced, it would be worthwhile to reflect on the achievements, challenges and lessons learned of anti-trafficking movement. Therefore, we would like to organize a panel that will expose and debate the experiences of the past 20 years in the areas of prevention and prosecution of the trafficking in human beings, especially in women and children, as well as protection and assistance to trafficked persons.
In particular we would like to call for papers in the following areas:
· Beijing Conference and its influence on global anti-trafficking policies and theoretical approaches in the anti-trafficking movement
· evaluations of governmental and non-governmental programs
· unmet needs and remaining gaps in anti-trafficking actions undertaken by governmental, non-governmental and international organizations
· challenges related to the counter-trafficking efforts in the states and regions in persistent political, economic or armed conflicts, or those suffered from natural disasters, that force people to migrate
· role of the international cooperation in trafficking prevention and prosecution as well as in the victims’ assistance and support
· innovative and proved practices in the elimination and reduction of trafficking causal factors
· current state of education and research on human trafficking.
