Subject: DPI's 9th WORLD ASSEMBLY: Building Human Capital: Realizing SDGs for Persons with Disabilities:11th - 13th April, 2016; New Delhi, India
Dear All,
As you may be aware, DPI's 9th World Assembly will be held from 11th to 13th April, 2016 in New Delhi, India. The Theme for this year's World Assembly is "Building Human Capital: Realizing SDGs for Persons with Disabilities".
The indicator framework and formal agreement to support the implementation of SDGs has been tasked to the Independent-agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Indicators (IAEG-SDGs). Several consultations have taken place so far and the launch of these indicators will take place in March 2016. Also, the monitoring process of the SDGs would be on different levels – global, regional, national and thematic. The most crucial component would be at the national level. Each country would have nationally defined indicators that are best suited for its unique priorities. Therefore, the SDGs would not be a success unless ownership takes place at the country level. The DPI World Assembly will be a significant platform to take the discourse on leadership building and equipping grassroots disability movements with tools to effectively monitor implementation of SDGs from the disability perspective at the national level.
DPI Member National Assemblies (MNAs) from across all regions will gather to endeavour to promote knowledge transfer, skills development and collaborative learning based on the collective efforts of persons with disabilities and other various stakeholders - governments, private sectors, academicians, experts, etc. Be a part of this extraordinary gathering of the disability movement from the world over!
The registration for this will soon open. However, you can write to us at [log in to unmask] with your interest of participation.
Further information can be found on the DPI World Assembly 2016 <http://www.dpiworldassembly2016.com/> website.
Please circulate this information among your networks. We look forward to your participation.
Warm regards,
Aarti Thakur
