Dear all,
Not just shameless self promotion but in an attempt to increase awareness of the institutional history of the National Portrait Gallery and promote its archival collections, I draw colleagues' attention to a lecture at the Gallery this Thursday lunchtime (7th January) where I will explore the wartime exploits of staff, occupation of the premises by Government and the evacuation of the Collections. The session will draw heavily on the records we hold, and in particular on recent archival research and cataloguing work. It will also feature a favourite member of staff, Sergeant Sherlock, and his plot to catch a thief...
Further details available via the Gallery's website: http://www.npg.org.uk/whatson/event-root/january-2016/lunchtime-lecture-07012016.php
Many thanks,
Bryony Millan
