Dear Colleagues,
We are organising a workshop entitled "Probabilistic models - from discrete to continuous" at the University of Warwick from March 29 to April 02 2016.
The study of the large scale limits of discrete microscopic models is one of the classical topics of statistical mechanics. Often this large scale behaviour is amenable to a continuous description - typical examples include non-linear PDEs arising in the hydrodynamic limits or linear stochastic PDEs that describe the fluctuations around this hydrodynamic limit. There are also special situations in which a non-linear stochastic PDE can be obtained as a scaling limit.
The last few years have witnessed substantial progress in the understanding of both non-linear stochastic PDE and discrete particle systems. The aim of this workshop is to bring together leading experts from both sides of the discrete / continuous divide and to foster future collaborations.

if you plan to come, so that we can order the correct amount of food for lunch. Some limited funding will be available to support the local cost and travel within the UK for interested PhD students and early career researchers. If you know someone who might be interested in taking advantage of this support, please ask them to send an email to [log in to unmask]
We hope to see you soon in Warwick. Best regards,
