We are seeking outstanding individuals in the areas of statistical
analysis and modelling of networks. Applications are encouraged from
those who can make fundamental contributions to the statistical methods
and theory for network data or the probabilistic modelling of such data,
especially in the presence of massive data. We are particularly keen for
candidates to have experience working at the interface of methodology
and application, and an interest in research that can lead to impact on
how we make sense from real-world networks.
This is an opportunity to join a world-leading community of researchers
at an exciting time. The successful candidates will be based within the
Statistics group at Lancaster. This group consists of around 25 faculty,
50 PhD students and 5 PDRAs. It has an outstanding research track record
as evidenced in research assessment exercises and provides a vibrant
environment for researchers with excellent facilities and support. The
group co-runs STOR-i (www.stor-i.lancs.ac.uk), the only Doctoral
Training Centre in the UK specifically focused at the statistics and OR
interface.
In addition, you will join Lancaster’s vibrant Data Science Institute.
Data Science is a key area of growth for Lancaster University and is
founded on historic strengths in Computer Science, Statistics and
Operational Research coupled with an outstanding track record in
multidisciplinary research. Together with more than 70 academics with
existing expertise at Lancaster, these positions are a key part of the
new world-class, multidisciplinary Data Science Institute that is
starting to set the global standard for an interdisciplinary approach to
contemporary data-driven research challenges in areas including data and
society, justice, health, and the environment. Appointments will help
play a key role in shaping this exciting new initiative.
The post is available at grades 7 and 8 (Lecturer, equivalent to
