Hi Pauline
Our 'Public Access Terminal' guidelines has good advice on height, position
and other issues for public terminals. The guidance pre-dates the tablet
computing era, but the general principles and approach apply regardless.

Subject: Using a tablet computer to access a catalogue
Sent by: Accessibuilt list <[log in to unmask]>
Hello,
Does anyone have any information on the positioning and use of a tablet
computer to access a library catalogue?
The proposal is to trial a couple of tablets on the pillars at the end of
the library shelves for easy searching. The catalogue can still be
searched from standard computers around the library, so this is seen as an
enhancement not a replacement. They are intending to set the tablet at an
angle (presumably sloping back not forward!) and I've been asked to offer
advice on the height. I think there is rather more to this than height -
such as a knee space, flexibility of positioning (maybe using a flexible
arm), access for short people and tall people, somewhere to rest the wrist
to avoid intention tremor...
Any thoughts, or possibly design guidance I can quote, please?
Many thanks
