Dear all,
We would like to invite you to the next MAPLE meeting taking place in Gloucestershire Archives on the 28th of January 2016. The location for the meeting is part of an HLF funded project called 'For the Record', a collaborative approach to gathering, keeping and sharing the documented heritage of local communities. The project aims are to provide better on-site facilities at the Alvin Street premises; support local people to document, care for, interpret and share their personal and community archives; build more specialist storage space; and develop better ways to look after 'born digital' documents. This is an ambitious project which does not rely only on the build of a new building, but will be more about how you can make the most of your existing premises. We want to use this opportunity to hear from the project manager and team on how they developed their approach and their vision.
Places are limited so please book<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/maple-at-gloucestershire-archives-tickets-20574468790> early to avoid disappointment.
Please note that this event is part of MAPLE - The Major Archive Projects Learning Exchange (MAPLE) group which was set up in autumn 2007 to support organisations planning or managing large archive projects; primarily capital developments. Over 130 organisations are members of the group, including local authority, university, national and specialist archives. This networking group, facilitated by The National Archives, provides a chance to get together and visit a completed project and learn about the experiences, challenges and lesson learned. you have to be a member of MAPLE in order to attend.
