Dear Colleagues,
(Apologies for cross-posting)
We'd like to invite you to consider submitting an abstract to Panel 44
at the ASA 2016 conference in Durham, UK (July 4-7), entitled:
"Ethnography and evaluation: temporalities of complex systems and
methodological complexity". Convenors: Sue Lewis (Durham), Joanna
Reynolds (LSHTM).
Please see the short abstract below (and the longer abstract on the ASA
2016 website), but in summary, we're keen to invite papers that explore,
from an ethnographic perspective, the complexity of dimensions of flow
and change in interventions (or programmes), and how ethnography's
approaches and values might intersect those of evaluations of 'complex'
interventions.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is 15th February 2016, and
more information on the panel and submitting an abstract can be found
here:
http://www.nomadit.co.uk/asa/asa2016/panels.php5?PanelID=4412
We warmly welcome questions or any discussion about ideas for papers in
advance of the deadline; please email [log in to unmask] or
[log in to unmask]
Best wishes,
Sue Lewis & Joanna Reynolds

P44: Ethnography and evaluation: temporalities of complex systems and
methodological complexity (short abstract):
Ethnographies in and of evaluations of multi-sited interventions in
complex systems raise important methodological questions for
ethnographers. How do we capture, explore, analyse and write about
different tempos and flows of change across different contexts when
seeking to evaluate and produce more “generalizable” accounts?
