**SPECIAL SESSION ON HYBRID METAHEURISTICS FOR DYNAMIC AND UNCERTAIN
ENVIRONMENTS**
HM 2016 - 10th International Workshop on Hybrid Metaheuristics
June 8-10, 2016 - Plymouth, United Kingdom
http://www.dmi.unict.it/hm2016/special-sessions.html
http://www.dmi.unict.it/hm2016/
**AIMS AND SCOPE**
Many of the optimization problems we found in real world present some
sort of dynamism or uncertainty in one or more of their components:
objective function, dimension, constraints or variables’ domain. This
type of problems has attracted the attention of the scientific community
in recent years because their resolution entails big challenges for
classic optimization methods. The combination of the strengths of
different metaheuristics or the combination of metaheuristics and
techniques from others domains (machine learning, classical artificial
intelligence, fuzzy set theory, or probability theory) have shown to be
one of the most successful tools to address these challenges. This
special session aims at gathering the recent theoretical and practical
advances, as well as exploring future directions in the field of hybrid
metaheuristics for dynamic and uncertain environments.
The topics of the special session include both theoretical and
experimental aspects of the application of hybrid metaheuristics to (but
not restricted to):
- Single and multi-objective dynamic optimization problems
- Robust optimization
- Noisy fitness functions
- Approximate or imprecise fitness functions
- Dynamic constrained optimization problems
- Real-world problems with noise and/or dynamism
- Surrogate-models for dynamic and uncertain environments
- Theoretical results for problems with uncertainty and dynamism
**SUBMISSIONS**
HM 2016 includes two different types of submission:
1) *regular paper*: 15 pages maximum length in Springer LNCS format,
including figures, table & references, and should report on new and
unpublished work;
2) *abstract for oral/poster presentation* (no page restriction; any
format): it should discuss work in progress; new research ideas; works
previously published elsewhere (it is essential that a reference to the
previous article is clearly cited); and all that may be relevant and
fruitful for soliciting discussions at the workshop.
**PROCEEDINGS**
All accepted *regular* papers will be published in a volume of the
series on Lecture Notes in Computer Science from Springer.
Electronic submissions should be formatted in pdf.
All the other kind of submissions (short papers, abstract of the oral
presentations, poster presentations) will be published on the HM 2016
web site.
**SUBMISSION SYSTEM**
All papers must be submitted in PDF using EasyChair Submission System.
The link to submit papers is the following:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=hm2016.
The deadline for ALL the types of submissions is January 18, 2016.
**JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUE**
Significantly extended versions of selected papers from the LNCS
proceedings of HM 2016 will be considered for a special issue in Soft
Computing (confirmed).
**IMPORTANT DATES**
- Paper submission deadline: January 18th, 2016
- Notification: February 18th, 2016
- Camera-ready papers deadline: March 18th, 2016
- Early registration: March 18th, 2016
