South, West & Wales Doctoral Training Partnership
Up to 56 fully-funded PhD studentships in the arts and humanities available for September 2016 – Competition opens on Monday 30th November 2015.
The 21st century is transforming academic research: the creative and intellectual challenges of our research enquiries are now combined with the demands of a dynamic and ever more globalised society with languages playing an important role. The AHRC-funded SWW DTP gives the Arts & Humanities researcher access to the experience and skills essential for success in this new research world. The ‘Languages & Cultures’ panel invites applicants from all major Modern Languages, Celtic Studies and Classics.
The SWW DTP is designed to route our researchers into productive careers whether in academia or professional practice. We provide bespoke support tailored to your project and your career aspirations, enriched by the world-class expertise and state-of-the-art resources available at our eight leading universities (Aberystwyth, Bath, Bath Spa, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Reading and Southampton) and our prestigious sector partners. The SWW DTP offers joint supervision arrangements between its partner universities as standard, ensuring an exceptional breadth and depth of coverage for your project. Collaboration among the Modern Languages, Celtic Studies and Classics and between all partners in the South West, West and Wales now in the third call for applications is well established. The diversity and the large and internationally well connected departments these regions have to offer, will help you to establish unique career opportunities.
SWW DTP students have unrivalled access to prestigious organisations such as BBC Drama (Cardiff), BBC Factual (Bristol), Historic Heritage, London Metropolitan Archives, the National Library of Wales, the National Archives and the Welsh National Opera, among others. Our students also benefit from an extensive catalogue of enhanced training, including:
