Apologies for the double post on the Queen's PhD positions.
I should just note to clarify things that these 2 PhD scholarships are different (in addition to) the 2 PhD scholarships being offered by Colin Bennett at UVic - although all 4 scholarships are connected to the Big Data Surveillance partnership. The other important difference is that UVic requires International candidates to apply by December 15th, whereas Queen's has the same deadline (February 1st) for both Canadian and International candidates.
The most important thing for those interested or with suitable Masters students who are considering applying, is that you get in touch with the supervisor concerned: Colin Bennett for the 2 UVic scholarships, David Lyon and myself for the 2 Queen's scholarships.
So, yes, there are 4 surveillance-related PhD places available in Canada right now...
David MW.
