Hi,
I have a basic question about resting-state (rs) fMRI and hope someone could help. I know I can identify DMN using ICA techniques, and the network includes medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC), posterior cingulate cortex (PCC), and lateral parietal cortex. Is it because that, during resting, the time courses in the 3 regions are temporally quite similar (highly correlated)?
My further question is, I know I can use some method (such as MarsBar) to extract the extent of functional connectivity (fc) in one of the 3 regions, or the averaged extent of connectivity in the whole 3 regions. If I extract the rs fc of MPFC, does it represent the extent of temporal correlation between MPFC and the rest 2 DMN regions? If I extract the rs fc of the whole 3 regions, what does the value stand for (the connectivity within the 3 regions)?
Thanks a lot. Mike
