Subject: Summer Snap
I helped the lizard out of the stainless steel sink
and placed him on the wooden rail of the small verandah
of this bush shack. The roos have gone now
from the water trough and food bucket. After three days
over forty degrees Fahrenheit they deserve a drink.
The lizard had come up from the plughole, likewise
looking for a drink, and I loved having him as guest
in the sink - but he needed the wild and whatever food
they gather out there. Now gum nuts fall in
an irregular pattern on the tin roof, heralding
the new year coming and more hots days of summer.
