The Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in Chemistry. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will begin on July 1, 2016.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, postdoctoral experience, and an excellent publication record. Candidates’ scholarship must be in Biophysical Chemistry and be able to complement the existing strengths of our department in Biological and Environmental Chemistry. Candidates must show evidence of excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct innovative research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, externally funded research program. She or he will have an established or emerging record of scholarly accomplishment including publications in leading academic journals and/or with leading academic presses, or will provide evidence of excellence in research as demonstrated in presentations at significant conferences, awards for work in the field and strong endorsements by referees. Excellence in teaching can be established by teaching accomplishments highlighted as part of the application, endorsements from referees, and evidence of strong communication and expository skills.

The successful candidate will become a member of the University of Toronto tri-campus Graduate Department of Chemistry, and will be actively involved in graduate supervision. It is expected that s/he will develop an internationally recognized program of scholarly research as well as excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
