It is my great pleasure to announce the third Liverpool Film Seminar of 2014-15, that will take place on Monday 14th December, in Liverpool John Moores University:
Professor Ewa Mazierska (University of Central Lancashire) will present a paper on
"Creating the Canon of Polish Cinema"
Ewa Mazierska is Professor of Film Studies, at the School of Journalism and Media, University of Central Lancashire. She published over twenty monographs and edited collections on European cinema, representation of work in film, gender and popular music. They include From Self-Fulfilment to Survival of the Fittest: Work in European Cinema from the 1960s till Now (Berghahn, 2015), Falco and Beyond; Neo Nothing Post of All (Equinox, 2014), Postcolonial Approaches to Eastern European Cinema: Representing Neighbours on Screen, edited with Eva Näripea and Lars Kristensen (I. B. Tauris, 2014), Work in Cinema: Labor and Human Condition (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013) and European Cinema and Intertextuality: History, Memory, Politics (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011). Mazierska’s work was translated into nearly twenty languages, including French, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Estonian and Serbian. She is principal editor of a Routledge journal, Studies in Eastern European Cinema.

The seminar starts at 6 pm, and it will take place in Lecture Theatre 1, Redmonds Building. It is open to students, staff and members of the public.
The Liverpool Film Seminar is a collaboration between the Department of Film Studies at Liverpool John Moores University and the Department of Communication and Media at the University of Liverpool.
