Further to my message last week, I can now confirm that Carl Jones will be taking on my ILL duties after the New Year.   Carl is not replacing me in that he won't generally be involved in the day-to-day routine of the department.  However he will be overseeing the ILL service in addition to his current role as Library Annexe Supervisor where he'll be based for most of the week.  Please therefore continue to send routine requests and enquiries to the various sites

Dear Colleagues

Edinburgh University library sites will be closed for Christmas and New Year from Thursday 24th December to Monday 4th January inclusive.

We shall stop posting physical items by Royal Mail on Friday 18th December.  We could however still do courier shipments on Monday 20th (next day delivery), but these would attract a higher borrowing fee.   We'll also try to send out articles by Article Exchange up until the last minute.

I am retiring from the library at the end of the month (last actual working day will be Tuesday 22nd), so I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and friendship over the last 13 years.  It's been a privilege to be part of such a wonderful service.   At the moment the only thing we know about the way forward is that my post is not being filled.  Please therefore for the immediate future, continue to send enquiries to the departmental address ([log in to unmask])

For my sins, I'm continuing in my role as FIL Treasurer until the summer, having only taken it on after the Manchester conference and only just getting all the contact details with the bank changed!  I'll be at the conference in Portsmouth in June and hope to catch up with some of you then.

In the meantime, we'd like to wish you a very restful Christmas and a peaceful New Year
