Founded in 2004, The British Postal Museum & Archive (BPMA) is an independent charity that provides accessible learning for people at all levels and from all backgrounds and cares for the archive and museum collections of Royal Mail and the Post Office. Our Designated Public Record Archive and Museum Collections range from sheets of Penny Blacks, posters and 1930s films, to mobile post offices, pillar boxes and telegrams from the Titanic.
We have a vacancy for an Archives Records Assistant. Working within the Collections Team and based in the Public Search Room, the Archives Assistant is a public-facing post that assists the team in the efficient operation of the Search Room and the enquiries services. This includes face-to-face assistance as well as responding to enquiries by phone, post and email and in compliance with established best practice and the BPMA’s statutory responsibilities under the Public Records Act. This is a paraprofessional role.
Based: Central London
Salary: BPMA Admin/Assistant grade: £20,000 pa
Reports to: Search Room Manager
Contract: Full-time, (12 months contract)
