Is anyone aware of developments that might address the important issue for
wheelchair users of the gap between the platform and the carriage?
I noticed in Barcelona this year that most of their Metro platforms have a
raised section towards one end of the platform that reduces the gap
significantly. This coincides with some signage on the train designating
the relevant carriage as giving priority to people with disabilities.

In the USA, they have high platforms and mini-high platforms to close the
gap - see
