Hi Marcus,
Your photos of the studs with rubber tops look similar to ones I saw recently in Hong Kong, although they use both smaller and larger ones in certain areas. Whilst I am definitely no expert on this topic, they appear to use the strips as directional indicators and the blisters as warnings at the top/bottom of the stairs. I have to say the latter appeared to be applied pretty much uniformly across the city too.

Hi Shane
The metal studs will be slippery, unless they are smiler to those used in Australia/New Zealand - since the Australia/NZ ones have a much better top pattern and slightly larger surface area. However, the ones used on Exhibition Road are a continuous metal strip, see attached photo (which I think was courtesy of Martin McConaghy) the tactile strip is the dark line to the left of the picture 9 adjacent to a large strip of corduroy tactile paving, they also have the metal studs, seen in picture 10 along with the corduroy - confusing, or what?
Regards
Marcus
