Dear SUV Members:
ICA-SUV is looking for volunteers for the Nominations Committee was well
as candidates to help lead the Section over the next few years.
Have you ever attended an annual conferences of the ICA Section on the Archives of
Universities and Research Institutions (SUV), perhaps
* the July 2015 conference exploring the huge challenges archivists
face in dealing with audio-visual records
* the exciting 2014 meeting in Paris with its focus on how archivists
and researchers work with data in today's technologically focused world
* the intensive 2013 meeting in Barbados on the "new age" of archives, or
* the thoughtful 2010 consideration of archivists as historians in Prague
Have you ever used one of the SUV's research publications such as
* the newsletter or
* the appraisal guidelines for
* student records or scientific records?
* the International Who's Who in Archives Globally containing
biographies of archival theorists
Would you like to see
* additional meetings,
* more publications,
* a more active website,
* a new research project, or
* just new leadership?
As much as these activities benefit university archivists worldwide, they can only happen
with coordination by the SUV's Section Bureau. Finding new people to serve on the Bureau
is where we need your help.
Over the next several months SUV will conduct elections for a new
Secretary and at least 3 Section Bureau members. Thus, your participation
will help us face the future.
The Section Bureau is an important body for planning and continued leadership of the
Section and its publications and conference activities.
We need you to serve on the Nominations Committee. The task does not require an
extraordinary amount of work and all of it can be conducted by e-mail or Skype or Google
"phone" calls. The schedule extends from about November to May, but the actual time
required is quite modest.
If you are able to help SUV grow and continue to help archivists such as yourself, consider
volunteering to serve on the Nominations Committee.
Please write to me by e-mail no later than November 15, 2015.
Meanwhile, if you would lie to serve on the Section Bureau, or as
Secretary, I encourage you to write to me so I may suggest your name to
the Committee as soon as it is established.
Thank you for considering this request and for your continued participation in ICA's
largest and most active Section.
