(I apologize if this is a repeated message and if the above did not format properly. I can't get it to work! This is my 2nd attempt after a warning about sending HTML.)
This is my first message to this list.
I just read Kim for the first (and second) time and like many people fell in love with it.
I have four versions:
1) 1900/1901 Doubleday edition. Came from a library. No reprint date but I suspect it is post 1901. Colorful dust jacket with standing Kim holding a walking staff. No illustrations.
2) 1908 Mcmillan's Pocket Edition. 1914 reprint. Small. Bible-like pages. Soft red leather cover. JL Kipling illustrations.
3) 1995 Folio Society edition. Follows 1900/1901 edition. Illustrated by Auguste Leroux.
4) 1915 two-volume Service edition. It has a very interesting owner's inscription:
Twila Lytton
Isabella Thoburn College
Lucknow India
April 20, 1920
Isabella Thorburn is still an active College in Lucknow -- a school for CHristian girls.
Twila Lytton was a prominent student at that college, on a variety of committees, traveled to foreign countries to represent the school, and at one point attended a WHite House dinner and gave a presentation!
I also have Peter Hopkirk's Quest for Kim.
Please, can someone tell me how to get a hold of "Sharad Keskar's annotations [for Kim] in our own Reader's Guide.?"
Thanks.
