1. Associate Research Fellow (£25769-£28982)
The successful applicant will provide support to the ‘Antenatal Prophylactic Pelvic floor Exercises and Localisation (APPEAL)’ research programme. This programme (a collaboration with clinicians and academics at the Universities of Birmingham, Warwick and Nottingham) will develop and evaluate a training package for midwives to help pregnant women perform pelvic floor exercises correctly.
The successful applicant will support the programme by 1. Contributing to a theory-driven systematic review about the individual, professional, and organisational barriers and enablers to doing pelvic floor muscle exercises; 2. Contributing to obtaining ethical and research governance approval for focused ethnographic case studies and interviews with health care professionals and pregnant women; and 3. Assisting with the planning and development of the APPEAL programme of research.

The successful applicant will provide support to the research programme by 1. Undertaking a theory-driven systematic review about the individual, professional, and organisational barriers and enablers to doing pelvic floor muscle exercises; 2. Undertaking focused ethnographic case studies and interviews with health care professionals and pregnant women (including obtaining ethical and research governance approval); 3. Assist with the planning, development and evaluation of the APPEAL intervention; and 4. In stage 2, contribute to the mixed-methods process evaluation of the clinical trial of APPEAL.
