Dear All
I would be grateful for some advice about the differences in content of licensed and non licensed asbestos medicals please. I have summarised the main differences here. it appears that the actual documentation requirements are the main difference ( and I am having difficulty confirming this from the HSE website) as the clinical element appears the same.
Licensed
on starting and every 2 yrs
HSE appointed Dr
Resp symptoms questionnaire
Spirometry
Chest exam
Copy to GP
Consideration of fitness for role due to physical demands of work
Non-licensed
on starting and every 3 yrs
GP or HSE appointed Dr
Resp symptoms questionnaire
Spirometry
Chest exam
Copy to GP
No info about fitness to continue to work with asbestos.
Have I missed anything here?
How long would you allocate for the OHP appointments in each case bearing in mind the spirometry and checking for completeness of respiratory symptom questionnaires would be done in a 20 minute appointment with the OHN prior to attending with the Dr?
Many thanks
Jo
