A post-doctoral position is available at Institut des Sciences
Moléculaires d'Orsay, Université Paris Sud, Orsay, France, to study
biomolecular interactions involving carbohydrates by means of gas phase
spectroscopy.
The project is jointly funded by the french National Research Agency
(ANR) and the Swiss National Research Foundation (SNF). It involves the
group of Pierre Carcabal in Orsay to perform gas phase spectroscopy
experiments on glyco-mimics that are synthesized by the group of Oliver
Schwardt (Molecular Pharmacy, University of Basel). The computational
chemistry part of the project is competed in Orsay and in Basel, in the
group of Martin Smiesko.
Applications will be considered until the position is filled. Candidates
should have completed a PhD in Physical Chemistry, Molecular Physics,
Chemical Physics or any related field less than 2 years before the
beginning of the contract. Experience in laser spectroscopy experiments,
molecular jets, mass spectrometry, computational chemistry will be
valued but all candidates with a strong motivation for experimental
physical chemistry are welcome to apply and all application will be
considered with attention.
The successful candidate will be contracted for one year by the CNRS,
with a possible extension of one year, on mutual agreement.
More details on the project or on administrative points are available
upon request to Pierre Carcabal ([log in to unmask]), accompanied
with a short CV.
