Hi Melissa,
we aka the German Digital Library expose our metadata AIP via our API (see docs @ https://api.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de) or via our frontend: Register and log in at https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/login, then use the "XML view" on our object pages; alternatively you can embed the slug /xml into the object pages URL, e.g.:
https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/item/SRFWSK46AMHF2JUZD2DOAVPSULEDAZID becomes
https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/item/xml/SRFWSK46AMHF2JUZD2DOAVPSULEDAZID
Our AIP comes in a simple wrapper format which beside all the metadata we use for internal (view, facets) and external purposes (EDM export to Europeana) contains the original full metadata in the <..:metadata-record> element. The example from above has a METS/MODS record. An example for a LIDO record can be found at
https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/item/xml/FVSAXPPHNPRUJ4S3V7L6ZD32Q3VOBFVI
Being no metadata expert myself I can't say wether those are "good" examples. If you shall find that these are useful examples, I'm happy to provide examples for different formats and/or put you in contact with our experts.
Best,
Stephan

Betreff: Good examples of metadata alongside digitised content?
Hi folks,
I'm teaching metadata in class tomorrow, and I find myself scrabbling
(again) to find any examples of full metadata in the cultural and heritage
sector, using VRA or IPTC or even Dublin Core. What I'd really like is a
site that had various examples of a digitised image of something, plus all
the metadata that goes alongside that item (this information is generally
seldom public facing). I'm wondering why such a site doesnt exist, and what
it would take to put it together... but in the meantime, would anyone care
to share with me one good example of an image plus ALL of its metadata that
you have? We really need examples of these to show students and to help
teach them about the best practice, the complexities, and what people are
actually doing in the sector...
Any help gratefully received, and if its not in time for tomorrow, no
matter! I can keep examples for class next term!
best
Melissa
