Hi Cristiano
Thanks :-)
There's a live implementation on Rick's site:
http://rammworldcultures.org.uk/objects/
This has some simple filtering / search. We're just having the
conversation internally about how best to make faceting and front end
stuff available to people. CO is built (and we really want it to remain)
as a tool without a front-end per se as we want implementors to be able
to do what they want with it.
However, at the same time we're also aware (and I'm personally more
excited..) about how to enable the creation of really nice, engaging,
object-focused experiences. Our current plan - yet to be fully formed -
is that we continue with CO as an "exposure mechanism" and then provide
tools (probably plugins, maybe themes) which hook into this. So for
example we're implementing TimelineJS (https://timeline.knightlab.com/)
into a beta WordPress plugin so that users can easily create timelines -
and one obvious way would be to allow them to connect their object date
fields from their CultureObject data.
We've also got an internal approach which we use on the sites we build
which allows editors to pull object data easily into exhibitions
(example -
http://americanmuseum.org/about-the-museum/exhibitions/gangsters/) - and
again we're thinking we are going to solidify this into a kind of
"exhibition builder" plugin.
Would be v interested in a conversation about bringing in Qi data - ping
me off-list!
cheers
Mike
