Spatial Data Manager, Transport for London (Southwark)
£250 - £350 per day depending on experience (3 months, excluding public holidays and leave)
We are looking for an experienced spatial data manager to prepare data for a new cycle infrastructure database. Starting in December 2015 you will need to be available to work over Christmas and New Year (excluding the bank holidays).
Reporting to the GIS Manager your key responsibilities will be to:
· Prepare existing TfL data for the creation of a baseline Cycle Infrastructure network
· Manipulate existing TfL data for inclusion in the Cycle Infrastructure database
· Develop automated and batch processes for maintaining networked datasets to the current version of our chosen core networks (currently OS ITN and OpenStreetMap)
· Create workbenches and scripts to automate maintenance processes
· Prepare documentation for the processes for the management and maintenance of the datasets created
What you will need:
· Degree qualification in GIS, or related subject, or equivalent experience
· Advanced knowledge of spatial data management and data management best practice
· Ability to undertake spatial analysis utilising datasets from a wide variety of sources
· Ability to write executable scripts to enhance and automate processes e.g. python
· Ability to liaise and build good working relationships with colleagues and clients
· Experience of data manipulation and transformation software such as FME
· Experience of working with Ordnance Survey Integrated Transport Network (ITN) products
· Experience of working with open source data including OpenStreetMap
· Experience of manipulating large datasets (e.g. borough, district, national) including complex spatial data relationship management
· Experience of working in a virtual project team environment with the ability to deliver high quality data management services under pressure
· Experience of working in transport and/or cycle route planning environment
