This panel calls for papers on the challenges contemporary societies face before the broad spectrum of climate change and over-exploitation of the biosphere; we aim anthropological and ethnographic approaches on the planet's future in the light of the different responses and processes initiated at different scales and different life contexts.
Resumo longo / Long abstract
Antropoceno, Natureza não-humana, Ambiente e Paisagem, Bem-estar, Depredação e Abdicação, Repulsa e Atracção são temas e propostas sob escrutínio pensados a diferentes escalas e desde diferentes perspectivas e agencialidades.
This panel calls for papers on the challenges of contemporary societies face before the broad spectrum of climate change and over-exploitation of resources of the biosphere; we aim anthropological and ethnographic approaches on the planet's future in the light of the different responses and processes initiated at different scales and different life contexts. To resist or to give up? Agency or indifference? Responsibility or victimization? Anthropocene, non-human Nature, Environment and Landscape, Wellbeing, Predation and Abdication, Repulsion and Attraction are issues and proposals under scrutiny thought at different scales and from different perspectives and agencialities. How humans deal with visible and invisible threats to their habitats and their contexts of life? How are disputed different forms of life, economies and aims in relation to natural resources? How are contested the diverse ways the planet is taken by an unlimited commodification of 'nature's services'? Who makes the difference? Who denies changing processes? How do we understand, after all, our relationship of inter-dependence with what is our shared environment?
