Experian’s Market Intelligence Group is seeking an experienced econometrician to play a leading role in building, maintaining and running econometric models that underpin our in-house forecasting as well as consulting projects for leading blue chip companies.
The Econometrician will join a group of 20 economists and econometricians working across a wide variety of economics and credit risk services and consultancy. This Group specialises in model-driven forecasts and analysis for the UK’s economy, credit markets, regions, sectors and socio-demographic segments. Examples of the breadth of client projects recently undertaken include building loss forecasting models, concentration risk analysis, stress testing and running local area impact scenarios. Clients include first and second tier banking and financial services companies, commercial real estate, retail and public sector.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Designing and building econometric & credit forecasting models and processes for both consulting projects with external clients and in-house use.
Reviewing and refining existing models
Production of model based forecasts, scenarios and stress tests.
Working with large datasets from both public sources and Experian’s in-house databases.
Communicating modelling methodology and results to a variety of external clients
Provide technical support & training to the team’s economists
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
Ideally MSc or a strong degree in Economics, Econometrics or related discipline.
Experience – essential
Significant experience in building econometric models using large datasets and producing model based forecasts & scenarios.
Producing written research, methodology notes etc.
Proven experience of leading, shaping, and delivering high quality forecasting model development projects
Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet tight deadlines
Ability to work under pressure
Strong interpersonal skills and a good team player
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
