Hi David
This is a difficult one as we are in a state of flux. Currently the POCT team is made up of 1 x band 7 lead, 1 wte band 6 (2 x 0.5wte part timers), 2 x Band 4 associate practitioners, and 0.5 wte ATO. Therefore 4.5 wte.
The proposal, to align with our future plans for provision of POCT in a number of different sectors will see the removal of the band 7 role (I will take on a 0.2 wte POCT Manager role rather than full time Co-ordinator as part of my Lead BMS duties). We aim to retain BMS input at band 6/5 level long term, have 2 x band 5 staff (project managers/IT specialists) and 1 x band 3 ATO. This will effectively be a flattening of the structure based on the position we find our POCT service in and in relation to our pan pathology tender soon to be awarded which addresses some of our long term POCT goals. We have a lot of staff support across the trust and beyond delivering our POCT objectives.
I hope this helps.

Subject: Quick Survey of POCT Staffing provision in other trusts
Hi All,
Please could I be bold enough to take a quick survey of staffing in your trust as we are just putting together a business case for further POCT staffing at UHMB.
I am particularly interested in trusts in the north/northwest as I am situated in the northwest.
If you would rather respond personally I provide my email address as a handy link:

Dear David,
Randox has a cardiac EQA programme suitable for POCT. The scheme is the RIQAS Liquid Cardiac Programme.
This is a monthly scheme with 1 sample a month. It contains 9 parameters (including Troponin and D-Dimer) if you were wanting to also register other parameters.
Best Wishes,
