Role Summary:
We have a 2-year full-time interdisciplinary post-doc position at the RCSI, suitable for an applied statistician, mathematician, engineer or someone in a closely related field. The successful candidate will be employed on an Irish Research Council-funded project with three main goals:
1) to develop a new analysis technique to identify rates, patterns and proficiency of adherence to inhaled medication, combinding time-series and frailty modelling
2) conduct an observational study of psychosocial predictors of adherence, and
3) establish an international consortium to apply for H2020 Societal Challenge funding.
The position is based jointly in the Department of Psychology, RCSI, Dublin 2, and at the Department of Medicine, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9. The candidate will be part of a large inter-disciplinary team examining adherence measures for respiratory diseases.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
Essential
• A PhD degree or equivalent in statistics, mathematics, engineering or a related discipline.
• Excellent database management skills.
• Evidence of the ability to work independently and efficiently, including excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal, report writing and IT skills.
• A thorough knowledge of statistical analysis using Stata or equivalent.
Desirable
• Demonstrated expertise in the analysis of survival, frailty or time-series data
• Experience of participant recruitment, assessment and entering of results into a database.
• Project management experience.
• Track record in scientific publication, that demonstrates experience in using sophisticated statistical analysis.
• Experience of working in a multidisciplinary research team.
• Robust knowledge of quantitative research methods, design and data analysis.

Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
