Dear Colleagues
EISCAT has produced an up to date document detailing the specifications of the current radar common modes and the pulse codes currently available for use on all of the radars. This is very useful for anyone trying to plan an EISCAT campaign or requesting time to run on the radars as it provides details such as temporal resolution, range span (lowest to highest altitude covered), size of a range gate and whether there is a plasma line measurement available. Users will now be able to see the standard capabilities of the different experiments and have an informed choice of experiment to run to suit the phenomenon they wish to observe.
The document can be accessed at:
https://www.eiscat.se/groups/Documentation/UserGuides/eiscat-experiments/view
This is also a good time to remind any members of the UK community who have been awarded EISCAT time that if they want to run an experiment in December 2015 they must schedule it by the 10th of NOVEMBER 2015. Scheduling is done via the web interface (http://www.eiscat.se/schedule/schedule.cgi) or contact me before the 10th and I will do it for you (please let me know If you are scheduling an experiment yourself).
If you do intend to run an experiment in this winter season (December and beyond) please contact me ASAP so that I can help to coordinate observations between different users and hopefully minimise clashes for time and ensure that there is someone available to operate the radar for all UK users.
Best regards
Andrew
