Dear Colleague,
You or your colleagues may be interested in attending the Vitae CPD event: 'Supporting Open Researchers', in Leeds on 1st December 2015.
This event responds to the increasing expectations for postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers to be more ‘open’ in their research through open access publication, open data, and their social media presence.
We are inviting all university staff with a role in supporting researchers to join us to consider the impact of open research on the professional development of researchers. We will look at the development opportunities needed by researchers, the skills and competencies gained through open research, and the career opportunities resulting from participating in open research.
This timely event addresses key concerns for researchers in their development and equips staff to respond to those concerns through providing training, resources, and information.
Some of our topics and speakers include:
• How does open access change behaviours? Helen Blanchett, Jisc
• Implications for researcher development from the changing culture of research, Professor Stephen Curry, Imperial College London
• Engaging the public throughout the research lifecycle, Derek Stewart OBE, National Institute for Health Research
• A personal experience of developing the open researcher, Dr Rob Daley, Heriot-Watt University
• And more...
