Dear users,
I have a longitudinal dataset of 150 participants with ages spanning 8 years to 38 years which I want to run VBM on. However considering that this group includes children data (n=35 under 18years), I wanted to know how to proceed with this analysis in terms of defining tissue probability maps and customized DARTEL template.
I was thinking of splitting the group, and running the 8-18 years (n=35) with the paediatric TPM provided with the TOM8 toolbox and the older group with the standard SPM or DARTEL template.
Does anybody have any advice if it would be valid to split the groups? Should I be creating a split group DARTEL template (one for 8-18yrs and one for 18yrs+) or a single study specific DARTEL template for the whole cohort (8-38yrs)? My ultimate goal is to run statistical analyses using the whole dataset together.
Additionally, there is longitudinal data for this sample, and should I be using the SPM default normalization or the DARTEL normalization? The longitudinal preprocessing section of the VBM8 manual it suggests changing the code (line 65) to use the SPM standard template over the DARTEL template?
Thank you,
