Dear Colleagues,
Can anyone help with this query?
Robert Davison of the British Transport Police History Group is writing a paper for his group's Journal on "... on the Summerseat (Lancashire) Protests of 1966/67 against the running down of their rail service, post-Beeching." Apparently hundreds of people were involved in placard waving protests and the police had to attend. He notes that it is "... an interesting tale" one that has made him wonder if there were other such large protests elsewhere in the country. He notes that "... there were plenty of the ‘usual’ last train events with detonators going off, cheering crowds and trains full – probably for the only time in years!!", but wants to know of any real mass protests such as the Summerseat one.
If anyone can help please would they email Robert at [log in to unmask]
Kind regards
