Following the great success of TalkScience at the British Library, the British Science Association's West Yorkshire Branch <http://www.britishscienceassociation.org/west-yorkshire-branch> is delighted to introduce these events to Leeds, in collaboration with the British Library and Leeds Central library.
The first event in the new series will be on GM Crops. We are inviting a panel of scientists, politicians and opinion-formers to come and discuss GM Crops - the science, the ethics, their place in our society.
Each speaker will give a brief introduction to their background in the topic, before we open the floor to questions and discussion. This is your opportunity to engage with experts in the field.
Speakers:
Professor Jurgen Denecke - Professor of Plant Cell Biology & Biotechnology, Leeds University.
Liz O'Neill - Director of GM Freeze
Martin Coates - Director of Agrantec Limited
Andy Goldring - Chief Executive of Permaculture
Chair:
Dr Alice Owen - Lecturer in Business Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement, Leeds University.
Doors open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start, and there will be a pause for thought in the middle. After the debate we will then head to a pub, for further discussion.
