Natural History Museum, London
Post: Content Developer – Visitor and Membership Events (Science Communication Team)
Salary: £27,091 per annum plus benefits
Closes 30 October 2015

The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s leading museums, internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in scientific research and as a leader in the presentation of natural history through exhibitions, public programmes, publications and the web.

The role of the Content Developer for Visitor & Membership Events is to develop and deliver creative, commercially-viable, high-quality content for Visitor Events & Membership Events that communicates the science of the Museum and the natural world. Content must be targeted appropriately towards different audiences including different segments of adults and families.

Visitor & Membership Events are delivered in a range of formats and locations (e.g. interactive activities in lab spaces, talks in lecture theatres and discussion events on-gallery). The Content Developer works collaboratively with colleagues in different teams across the Museum including Science, Visitor Events and Public Engagement to ensure there is a skilled and professional interaction between scientists and public audiences, encouraging questions, dialogue & debate.

The role sits within the Science Communication Team in Content Development, and reports to the Science Communication Manager, working closely with Visitor & Membership Events. This role includes a requirement to work regular evenings and weekends.

To be successful, you must have a first degree in natural sciences or equivalent experience, and a demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for the natural world. You would also have significant experience of developing and delivering creative content for charged-for events such as specialist-led tours, talks, lectures, interactive activities, workshops and immersive events.

BEFORE beginning your application - Please read the section on the advert about the ‘Online Application Process’ carefully.

The Museum is an equal opportunity employer, supports a diverse workplace and offers a competitive benefits package including:

• Defined benefit occupational pension scheme
• Annual leave allowance of 27 ½ days a year plus 8 public holidays
• Free entry to a wide range of museums and exhibitions
• Interest-free season ticket loan
• Child care voucher scheme
• Access to a full programme of learning and development opportunities
• Employee Assistance Programme
• Discounts on food and gift shop purchases
